The Fujifilm I’ll Never Sell

It is much bigger than my Sony RX100 VII, less advanced, and completely lacks both stabilization and an articulating screen, unlike my X-T4.

And yet, the Fujifilm X-E4 remains the only Fuji camera I will never sell.

THE BEST FUJI FOR ME.

Yes. Although it isn't the best Fuji on paper, it's the best one for me and for my photography philosophy.

What might look like a disadvantage to someone else, I actually see as an advantage.

If it's true that it lacks stabilization for video, even better.

It makes the camera entirely focused on photography. When I bring it with me, it does exactly what I expect a camera to do: photograph.

If it's true that it is essentially free of dials and buttons for extra functions, it only has what I actually need.

WHEN A HYBRID CAMERA BECOMES A DISTRACTION

And maybe some of you are like me and create photography-related content.

If you do, you know very well how having a hybrid camera can change the way you think when you go out to photograph.

The X-T4 is great for photography, but it's also great for video.

And when I go out to photograph, what was supposed to be a simple photographic experience can easily become an excuse to record a few cinematic shots or clips for my YouTube videos.

And that's when photography gets lost.

It gets lost between endless menus.

It gets lost while putting ND filters on lenses, attaching microphones, and setting up the camera with completely different settings from the ones I use for photography.

THE CAMERA I WOULD CHOOSE

I've asked myself many times lately: if I didn't create content for YouTube, what camera would I actually use?

And the answer is always the same.

The Fujifilm X-E4.

As I said, it's not the most versatile camera among the ones I own, especially when compared to the Sony RX100 VII I've talked about.

It doesn't have a 200mm zoom. It's bigger, less discreet...

But it's the camera I always find myself using, and above all, the one I want to bring with me on photographic trips.

But why?

WHY THE X-E4?

The X-E4 was the first Fuji I ever bought, because I needed a body that could accommodate different focal lengths and zoom lenses.

It's the camera I've brought with me on every photographic trip I've taken, across Europe and Asia.

So is this simply a choice driven by sentimental or emotional value?

I wouldn't say so.

I think it's a choice determined by how well I know the camera

Because It’s Perfect! (for me)

As I said, I know the X-E4 isn't perfect, but it is perfect for me.

I recognize its limitations, including the video limitations I've mentioned, but those are exactly what make it the camera I always want to bring with me when I want an experience that is strictly about photography.

Knowing that this camera doesn't do anything else is precisely what makes it essential.

While still remaining versatile.

ONE BODY, EVERY FOCAL LENGTH

In fact, because it doesn't have a fixed lens, over time I've been able to try virtually every focal length with it.

From prime lenses like 50mm and 75mm, to different vintage lenses and even a zoom lens.

So yes, I could sell all of my photographic gear.

But not my Fujifilm X-E4.
